Swiss representations abroad provide consular services for Swiss citizens living abroad, as well as for tourists and business travellers, foreign clients, etc. The necessary tools are developed and supplied by the Consular Strategies, Developments and Agreements division of the Consular Directorate.

The Division secures a regular exchange of information and findings between Switzerland and representatives of other Schengen member states, draws up cooperation agreements with selected partners, represents consular interests in major projects at the federal and cantonal levels, and develops solutions for modernising the range of consular services.
