Dear reader

It’s my pleasure to welcome you to the link of the Consulate General of Switzerland in Guangzhou. A dedicated staff is looking forward to assist you in your endeavor to know more about Switzerland or to stay in touch with your country of origin.

The consular circumscription of Guangzhou encompasses the 6 provinces of Guangdong, Fujian, Hainan, Hunan, Jiangxi and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

Our main tasks and goals are:
• Assist Swiss citizens living in our consular district in keeping up to date the records and contact with Switzerland (see separate link)
• Assist Swiss tourists in need while traveling through Southern China.
• Inform Chinese and other nationals on visa regulations for Switzerland and issue the needed Schengen-Visa (see separate link)
• Promote Switzerland’s trade and investment advantages and assist Swiss businesses in doing business in China (see separate link SBH)
• Promote Switzerland as a unique tourist destination and a country of tolerance, friendliness and openness.
• And last but not least make known Swiss culture in China by assisting artists of all walks of live to our Chinese hosts. By knowing more about each other’s culture we also learn to understand each other even if we do not speak the same language!

You will find on this web-site several links which – I hope – will give you the information you are looking for. If not, please do not hesitate to contact us, preferably by e-mail:  ggz.vertretung@eda.admin.ch or by phone 0086 20 3833 0450.

If you – as a Swiss citizen – are not yet registered with our Consulate General, please do so as soon as possible. Especially now, after the terrible natural and nuclear disasters in Japan it has shown once more how important it is to be able to contact efficiently our nationals living abroad.

There are only 200 Swiss citizens living in our consular district, so by no means, please let me know when you are in Guangzhou. I am looking forward meeting you either in my office or on one of my multiple business trips.

Ulrich Hunn
Consul General of Switzerland,
Guangzhou, Southern China
