Event on Strengthening the Political Participation of Women


On May 9th, 2012, the Embassy of Switzerland hosted the event "Overcoming Obstacles, Closing the Gap: Strengthening the Political Participation of Women" in collaboration with the Women and Public Policy Program of the Harvard Kennedy School and the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. The event featured panel discussions and remarks by women political leaders from the U.S. and Switzerland, academic authorities on gender issues, and civil society leaders. Panelists discussed the challenges, best practices, next steps, and the role of governments and civil society in furthering gender equality in the political sphere.
